2nd Armored Division

PriorService is proud to offer a large selection of items for the 2nd Armored Division. The fames “Hell on Wheels” Division has seen combat in World War II, Vietnam and the Gulf War. The 2nd Armored Division was formed in 1940 in preparation of possible US involvement in World War II. The division first saw combat in Operation Torch, the invasion of North Africa. After the defeat of Axis forces in North Africa the division saw combat in the Sicilian Campaign and was then sent to England in preparation of invasion of France. The division landed in Normandy on June 9th, 1944, D-Day plus 3. The division fought continuously in the drive through France and Belgium and into the heart of Germany. The division was on the line for most of its time in Europe until the Germany surrender in May 1945. The division briefly returned to the US but was moved back to Germany in 1951 and stayed until 1957. In 1957 the division was transferred to Fort Hood Texas where it remained for over 30 years. The division deployed several of its battalions to Vietnam but it did not make a full deployment to South East Asia. The division deployed one of its three brigades to Germany in 1978, and in 1991 the division deployed two of its three brigades to Saudi Arabia. These two brigades participated separately in the Gulf War with each attached to a separate division. The division was deactivated in 1995.
